2010 FTA Congress
The 23rd annual 2010 FTA Congress in review
Over 300 senior finance and treasury executives attended the Congress titled "Risk, Recovery and Reward – Navigating the New Normal" which featured a number of keynote speakers covering a range of topics facing the boards and management of Australian companies in meeting their strategic and financing needs. Other topics discussed included:
- The re-financing bulge that exists in 2012-2014 and how the savvy treasurers and corporate boards are currently positioning themselves to avoid the potential lack of funding during this timeframe;
- The increasingly strategic role of the Treasurer at the Board level;
- Matching the business objectives with the funding objectives throughout the cycle; and
- The growing need for a social venture capital market.
The "new normal" parameters that have arisen from the global financial crisis (GFC), the development of an Australian corporate bond market and a social venture capital market and the increasingly strategic role of the Treasurer at the Board level were amongst some of the key themes discussed.
The social events were a highlight, with Sydney comedian Ahn Do providing a colourful and entertaining performance at the Gala Dinner sponsored by Gold Partner ANZ. The Welcome Reception held on the Wednesday evening at Crown Towers, River Room, was a great way for delegates to catch up and network with one another while tasting some of Yalumba’s signature wines.
