FTA Membership Categories
The members of the Finance and Treasury Association (FTA) are predominantly finance and treasury professionals. In addition to its core membership of finance and treasury personnel, you will find investment managers, commodity managers, bankers, CFOs and consultants. There are several member categories available through the FTA. These are listed below.

Member Finance and Treasury Association (MFTA)
To become a member of the FTA, you must have:
- Completed a 3 year tertiary education in a finance related discipline, or
- Has at least three years full-time experience in a finance or treasury related role.

Certified Finance and Treasury Professional (CFTP)
To become a Certified Finance and Treasury Professional (CFTP) you must have:
- Completed a relevant post-graduate degree in a finance related discipline; or
- At least 5 years relevant experience in a finance role.

Fellow Finance and Treasury Professional (FFTP)
To become a Fellow Finance and Treasury Professional (FFTP) you must retain a current standard membership of the FTA.
To become a fellow you must already have FTA membership as well as wide and extensive experience in the Finance and Treasury industry. The award is made by the FTA Presidents Council based on Chapter recommendations or those of the Chief Executive Officer. Those who are made fellows continue to receive all the privileges, rights and obligations associated with being a member of the FTA. To be eligible to be considered to be made a fellow, you must:
- In the opinion of the Board have wide and extensive experience in finance and/or treasury management in general;
- Must have at least seven years in a senior finance or treasury management role;
- Must have provided a significate contribution to the FTA.

Student Membership
If you are a full-time under-graduate student with an interest in a career in finance and treasury, you will benefit from FTA membership. You can access most benefits that full-fee paying members enjoy.
In order to become a student member of FTA, you will need to fill in an application form and attach it with a copy of your University transcript and a photocopy of your valid student card.
The FTA student membership offers you some of the benefits of a standard membership. The benefits you will receive are:
- Access member protected content on the FTA website;
- Attend FTA events at member rates; and
- Receive all FTA publications

Retired Member
If you have been a member of the FTA for a minimum of five years and have retired, you may take up a special membership rate which provides all the benefits of membership at a lower rate.
Retired members are entitled to:

- Attend FTA events at member rates; and
- Receive all FTA publications

Leave of Absence
The Leave of Absence category is a temporary (up to two consecutive years) category designed for members who:
- Are temporarily working in areas other than finance or treasury and who wish to retain continuing membership of the FTA;
- Are not currently employed; and/or
- Are on leave from their employment for a period of six months or more.
FTA Leave of Absence members cannot:
- Vote in FTA elections, nor
- Attend FTA events at member rates
If you have been paying the leave of absence rate and your circumstances have changed – i.e. you have found or returned to employment in a finance or treasury related role – you should return to the standard membership rate.
Leave of Absence status must be applied for each year.
